Advocating environmental protection and sustainable development.
Traxon e:cue joined hands with young designers to participated in the i Light Singapore 2019 sustainable lighting art festival, advocating environmental protection and sustainable development.
i Light Singapore, the leading light art festival rooted in Singapore and known worldwide, has been held for six times. Upon the 200th anniversary of the Lion City’s port opening, the 2019 version was renamed to “i Light Singapore – Bicentennial Edition”. The Marina Bay once again enchanted visitors and citizens with magnificent brilliance.
28 nights, 33 art pieces and 5 program centers…this year’s festival has drawn thousands of visitors. All these marvelous installations were put together by recyclable material and lit by energy-saving illumination technology. They were embodiments of environmental concept, aesthetic taste and humanistic philosophy, facilitating conversations between the designers and people across the world.
Cenotaph for a Stone is such a work that realized the dialogue traversing space and time. Inspired by the Singapore Stone, Bryan Joseph Cadag, Loo Quan Le and Zulkarnain Bin Mohd Zin, the young designers from University of Singapore, created this masterpiece.
The installation comprises 51 ‘rock fragments’ on steel pedestals, with the 52nd pedestal left empty, hinting at the only piece that remains of the Singapore Stone residing in the National Museum of Singapore. The ‘rock fragments’ are placed in an orchestrated fashion that hypothesizes what the stone could have looked like. Traxon e:cue added glory to the Cenotaph for a Stone with unique sustainable lighting solutions with the Traxon ARCHISHAPE® 2.0 Dot and e:cue Butler S2 lighting control system.
Since day one i Light Singapore has been known as a sustainable event, which carries the theme of sustainability and showcases green-lighting art pieces. It aims to raise public awareness of environmental protection and a sustainable future across Asia and even the whole world.
The development of lighting source tells how the concept of sustainability evolves. From torches, candle and gaslight to incandescent light bulbs and LED luminaires, we become greener each day.
