One World Trade Center – Spire

New York City,

United States

One World Trade Center, located in Manhattan, is the focal point of the rebuilt World Trade Center Complex, standing 1,776 feet tall, including the height of its spire, making it the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere.

The One World Trade Center building was originally completed in 2012, with the spire added in 2013; however, in 2023 The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey initiated the up-light replacement program specifically for the antenna and spire. The spire accounts for the upper 408-feet of the WTC building, and now, thanks to lighting and controls from Traxon e:cue, it shines even brighter. Roughly 75-units of Traxon Vista Plus 200W RGBW fixtures are mounted on 3 levels utilizing a custom-built mounting swing plate with horizontal rotation. Additionally, DMX control capability is coordinated with the existing 3rd party control system.

As a result of the lighting installation, the spire can now be easily controlled and is visible from miles, acting as a landmark for aircraft, and a pillar of hope for the city.
